Undergraduate Society

The first meeting of the Executive was held early in November with the Class Presidents in attendance. Financial statements were read and plans were made for the year. The financial situation was rather grave and economies concerning the number of activities of the Commerce Undergraduate Society had to be introduced.

The first event took place in December, when a combined smoker was held with Arts and Science. The evening was a tremendous success, especially when the engineers tried forceably to join in on the fun. They were handled very deftly by a group of Arts, Science and Commerce men.

A 鈥淐ommerce Night鈥 on the Park side was held in March and was very well attended, especially by the war veterans, who entered Commerce after Christmas.

During the year, the various classes were given grants to stimulate interest in class activities. Many activities were held by the classes which proved very enjoyable. The fourth year held a party at St. Adele on one week-end.

Representative teams from Commerce were entered in the baseball, basketball, and hockey leagues. The honour of the Society was ably upheld in all these contests.

Commerce gave generously to the Amalgamated Charity Drive, subscribing 120 percent of its objective, a percentage surpassing all previous records.

The Executive is deeply grateful for the grand co-operation received from the Students of Commerce throughout the 1944-45 session.
