Mentors in Memoriam: Douglas Riley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former 捆绑SM社区 Kinesiology and Physical Education Department Chair, Douglas Riley. Native from St. John, New Brunswick, he passed away on June 8, 2022 at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax at 90 years old.

Dr. Ian P. Levy, Dr. Michael Lipset and Mr. Timothy Jones invite you to participate in a research study that they are conducting. The purpose of this study is to assess the abilities of school counselors to identify ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors in the language of youth; i.e. Hip-Hop. Enclosed is a fun and interactive survey wherein you will be asked to listen to a student's song and assess the degree to which, if at all, a variety of educational mindsets and behaviors are present.

2022 Vanier Scholar, Kelsey Huson, from the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, was the recipient of Canada鈥檚 most prestigious graduate awards, for traditional healing and culture-related substance use disorder treatment transformations due to the COVID-19 pandemic: Impact on Indigenous patients and communities.

The Connections Lab Study Recruitment

The Connections lab at 捆绑SM社区 has developed a survey to gain the perspective of school teachers and educators on the barriers teachers face when implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in their classrooms, in addition to assessing their knowledge of and level of access to Evidence Based Practices (EBPs) and social justice practices in the classroom. 听Who can participate? Erika Renda, KPE Ph.D. Candidate, recently had her thesis research titled Sex-specific myoelectric manifestations of localized fatigue during a multi-joint repetitive task published in the Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology. You can find the publication here.

Dr. Julie C么t茅, KPE, Presents Keynote Presentation at the 47e Congr猫s International de la Soci茅t茅 de Biom茅canique in Monastir, Tunisia

Dr. Julie C么t茅, KPE, is the PI of the Biomechanics of Occupations and Sports (BOS) Laboratory. She presented on les M茅canismes des Troubles Musculosquelettiques (TMS) chez les hommes et chez les femmes: similitudes, diff茅rences, impacts. The congress took place from October 26-28th.

捆绑SM社区 Education Grads Honoured at KEC Reception

A celebratory evening was held to celebrate the graduation of the 28 locals who completed their 捆绑SM社区 Bachelor鈥檚 of Education studies on October 22. The graduates were a part of a special program where they studied in the Kahnawake, with instructors from the community.
