Prospective Students

Anyone interested in applying or in the process of applying to become a student in À¦°óSMÉçÇø Faculty of Education.

Newly Admitted Students

Newly Admitted Students (U0): Graduating high school students who have accepted their offer of admission to À¦°óSMÉçÇø Education but who are required to take additional Freshman/Foundation Year courses, as listed in your admissions letter. For example:

  • B.Sc. Kinesiology: above 90 credits
  • B.A. (Education) in Global Contexts: above 90 credits
  • B.Ed.: Above 120 credits

Newly Admitted Students (U1): Students who have accepted their offer of admission to À¦°óSMÉçÇø Education who have completed either CEGEP, Advanced Levels & Advanced Subsidiary Exams, Advanced Placement Exams, Bologna-signatory (Europe), European Baccalaureate, French Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate, or University-Level courses and have not been asked to take additional courses, as listed in your admissions letter. For example:

  • B.Sc. Kinesiology: 90 credits or less
  • B.A. (Education) in Global Contexts: 90 credits or less
  • B.Ed.: 120 credits or less

Admissions Information

Admissions requirements vary depending on your educational background. To check the entrance requirements based on your academic history, please visit the Undergraduate Admissions Eligibility page.

Advanced Standing Credits

If you are interested in pursuing a B.A.(Education) and you have previously completed undergraduate courses/degree, you may qualify for some advance standing; however, transfer credits will only be assessed once you successfully transfer. Once finalized, you will receive a cumulative record outlining which courses have been accepted for transfer/equivalency and which courses you will need to take to complete your program. Transfer credits will only be granted for appropriate courses passed with a grade of ‘C’ or better. Visit the Advanced Standing & Transfer Credits page for more information.

Foundation Year Information

Students admitted from high school who receive less than 24 credits of advanced standing will be required to complete a maximum of 30 credits toward their Foundation Year (U0) before beginning Year 1 of their program.

After completing 30 credits of courses in your Foundation (U0) year, you will start following the Year 1 course plan for your degree.

International Student Information

International Students in the B.A.(Education) programs in addition to the CAQ and Study Permit, may be required to obtain a Co-op/Internship Work Permit issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada as a requirement for the mandatory Internship. For more detailed information, please see International Student Services.

Internship Information

Students enrolled in the B.A.(Education) program are required to complete a semester-long internship as part of their program to build professional networks and gain hands-on experience. More information on the requirements of the internship component of the program can be found on the Office of Internships and Student Affairs (ISA) website.

Honours Profile

High-achieving students in theÌýB.Sc. Kinesiology (Major)Ìýprogram with a keen interest in research and who are considering graduate studies have the opportunity to transfer to the B.Sc. Kinesiology Honours program. Students in the Honours program pursue more advanced coursework resulting in a research project in their final year of study. To pursue this Honours program, students who are completing their U2 year of studies in theÌýB.Sc. Kinesiology (Major)Ìýmust secure anÌýHonours Research Project SupervisorÌýand must consult with theirÌýadvising.kpe [at] mcgill.ca (KPE Student Advisor)Ìýto affect an intra-Faculty transfer to the B.Sc. Students who attended University prior to coming to À¦°óSMÉçÇø may be eligible for transfer credit. Please verify the credits already awarded to you by Admissions on your Minerva Unofficial Transcript. If you believe that you are entitled to additional credits, please review the Advanced Standing Guidelines and speak with your advisor. Please fill in the Request for Transfer Credit Form following consultation with your Academic Advisor.

Registration Information

Students will be invited to attend registration preparation sessions in June called À¦°óSMÉçÇø Pre-Registration Orientation (PRO), where advisors will guide them through the registration process. Until then, please review helpful information and tips on Registering for courses.

Access Minerva to verify your Classification for registration, your program details, and your registration time ticket by going to: Student Menu>Registration Menu>Step 1: Check Your Registration Eligibility and Verify Your Curriculum. Your registration time ticket should correspond to one of the dates in the table on the WHEN to Register page.
