The À¦°óSMÉçÇø International Portfolio Challenge (MIPC) is a trailblazing case competition targeting pensions, innovative portfolio design, and institutional asset management. Now anchored at the Sustainable Growth Initiative (SGI), MIPC serves as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange on pressing sustainability issues, bridging the gap between academia and industry. It offers students an unparalleled experiential learning opportunity to address real-world financial challenges.
The 8th edition of MIPC, guided by ProfessorÌýSebastien Betermier, centered on liquidity in retirement savings. This year's competition empowered teams to build inclusive and equitable retirement systems that promote long-term saving while meeting individuals' short-term liquidity needs.

À¦°óSMÉçÇø-FIAM Asset Management Hackathon, is a cutting-edge event that brings together the brightest minds in finance, technology, and innovation from all around the world. Dive into the realm of Big Data and AI as we tackle finance challenges with creativity and technical expertise.
The Innovation Challenge:ÌýAI in Bottom-Up Portfolio Construction. An exciting and innovative challenge centred around bottom-up portfolio construction using US publicly traded equities, Big Fundamental Data, alternative data, and cutting-edge Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques.
Evaluation Criteria:ÌýTeams will be assessed based on their innovative ideas, creativity of leveraging big data, technical proficiency and preliminary back-test results.

TheÌýLaidley Centre for Ethics and EquityÌýis pleased to announce its 2025 Business Ethics Case Competition. The competition will be held at À¦°óSMÉçÇø on March 21, 2025. On March 20, the participating teams will be welcomed with a roundtable panel and a networking reception in the evening.Ìý
The main objectives of the competition are:
- To increase students’ awareness of the importance of ethical decisions in business.
- To expose students to real-world scenarios that they may encounter in their future careers.
- Provide students with the opportunity to enhance their critical thinking and presentation skills related to business ethics.

Annual Grand Challenge on Sustainability - Sustainable Growth Initiative (SGI)
The Annual Grand Challenge on Sustainability, organized by the Sustainable Growth Initiative (SGI), is open to undergraduate and graduate students from Canadian Universities. The team must be multidisciplinary and may include students from engineering, business, law, arts, science, etc. Students are asked to propose impactful solutions to real-world problems related to sustainability. The top finalists are invited to À¦°óSMÉçÇø to present their ideas to industry experts and gain valuable feedback.
