The MCCHE is a world leader in promoting the development of a novel, integrative approach to science, policyÌýand innovation for solutions to complex nutrition and health challenges. These challenges include the persistent problem of hunger and under-nutrition, and the growing worldwide epidemic of obesity, diabetes and other non-communicable diseases. Since 2001, the MCCHE has forgedÌýan unprecedented worldwide alliance of scientists, food-industry executives, healthcare leaders and policy makers to achieveÌýa more prosperous and healthy future for all, especially the most vulnerable communities in the world.Ìý
The MCCHE seeks to fundamentallyÌýtransform individual and community diets, lifestyles, markets and health systems through better health and economic convergence.ÌýIn initiating and developing this approach, the MCCHE has created a platform for enabling complex collaboration in science and across sectors. This collaboration is already leading to transformative, action-oriented innovation that can effect positive change where it is most needed to improve global health.

Core activities
From its home in the Desautels Faculty of Management, the MCCHE operates as a ‘virtual centre.' All members have an appointment with their ‘home’ faculty, within and outside À¦°óSMÉçÇø. Members collaborate on areas of mutual interest through joint grant applications, sponsored research, and co-supervision of graduate students through two core activities:
- Interdisciplinary research to better understand and promote solutions to the most pressing global nutrition and health challenges; and,Ìý
- Knowledge dissemination and outreach to convene multi-sectoral partners to solve specific problems related to health and economic convergence that cannot be solved by single agencies alone. This leads to Convergent Innovation.
