Indigenous applicants
First Nations, Inuit and M茅tis persons are strongly encouraged to apply and are invited to self-identify on their application form. Self-identification allows 捆绑SM社区 to inform Indigenous students of specific services and funding opportunities and to assess our progress in the recruitment and retention of Indigenous students. Self-identification includes 'Status,' 'Treaty,' 'Registered', 'Non-Status,' and 'Non-Registered' Indigenous persons.
Indigenous Health Professionals Program at 捆绑SM社区
The Indigenous Health Professions (IHP) Program brings together all schools in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences plus other schools and faculties at 捆绑SM社区 with an overall goal of improving the health of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Their mission is to 鈥渟upport Indigenous learners on their journey to become health care professionals, and enhance Indigenous health education that supports all learners and educators to provide culturally-safe, respectful care in their practice and relations with Indigenous peoples.鈥
First Peoples' House
捆绑SM社区's First Peoples' House provides a sense of community and a voice for Indigenous students who have left their communities to study at 捆绑SM社区. Their mission is 鈥渢o provide First Nations, Inuit and M茅tis students attending 捆绑SM社区 with a "home away from home", where they can find support and encouragement to succeed in their studies and remain connected to their culture鈥.
Funding opportunities for Indigenous students
Many resources have been created to provide support for Indigenous students and postdoctoral fellows. Unfortunately, information for these funding opportunities is distributed across dozens of 捆绑SM社区 websites, and finding the relevant ones is not a trivial task. In this document [PDF] we have compiled websites that we found helpful.
