On January 26, SSHRC-funded students and researchers presented a series of “lightning” talks at SM’s Faculty Club with Ted Hewitt, President of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) in attendance. The event was emceed by Debra Titone, Associate Vice-Principal, Research at SM.
Eight presenters representing undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers across diverse fields of study were selected to deliver presentations of three minutes or less. Presenters were able to use one visual aid, a PowerPoint slide, to illustrate their research. A group discussion period followed the presentations.
SSHRC is a vital partner in promoting and supporting research and research training in the humanities and social sciences at SM. The goal of this session was to spark new conversations and collaborations among SSHRC-funded students and researchers at SM.
