Short Bio
Amani Al-asmar is Registered Dietitian who recently joined the School of Human Nutrition as a Faculty Lecturer / Stage Coordinator - Dietetic Educator.
Since 2018, she has been actively engaged in clinical nutrition practice within both public and private sectors in Montreal, Quebec. Holding a master's degree in public nutrition from the University of Montreal, Amani brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice. She proudly maintains her membership with the Ordre des Diététistes-Nutritionnistes du Québec, contributing to the ongoing advancement of her profession.
With five years of experience working in family medicine clinics catering to diverse patient populations, Amani has shaped her skills in providing tailored nutrition education and counseling for patients with varying socioeconomic backgrounds. As a valued member of multidisciplinary teams, she collaborated closely with colleagues to address the unique needs of both adult and pediatric patients.
She also actively participated as a facilitator in workshops at the University of Montreal, focusing on the Patient-Partner approach. Through these workshops, she mentors students in various medical and paramedical fields, helping them refine their interventions to better serve patients within the Quebec healthcare system.
In addition to her clinical and educational roles, Amani has also contributed to research endeavors by serving as a research assistant in 2018 for a project assessing food security among Syrian refugees post-settlement in Canada.
