Expert: World AIDS Day 2024

, observed on Dec. 1, is a global effort to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS, which affects nearly 40 million people worldwide.

Bertrand Lebouch茅, Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine, and Clinician Scientist, Research Institute of the 捆绑SM社区 Health Centre, can share his expertise on HIV prevention and improving patient care.

Lebouch茅 is part of a research team developing the first AI-powered chatbot designed to help people with HIV manage their health. Called MARVIN, this bilingual tool can provide reliable health information, medication reminders and guidance on managing antiretroviral therapy. A new study published in demonstrated MARVIN鈥檚 effectiveness.

鈥淎dvances in antiretroviral therapy have revolutionized HIV care, giving people with HIV nearly the same life expectancy as those without the virus. But to maintain this progress, it鈥檚 critical to stay on top of treatment. Our ultimate vision is for MARVIN to become a personalized health companion, delivering the right support to the right person at the right time, redefining the future of HIV care,鈥 said Lebouch茅.
