This brand new, one-of-a kind program is designed for high-level pianists who specialize in collaborating and working with singers. Under the co-direction of Michael McMahon (Schulich School of Music of 捆绑SM社区) and (Facult茅 de musique de l鈥橴niversit茅 de Montr茅al), and with pierre.andre.doucet [at] umontreal.ca (subject: UdeM-捆绑SM社区%20Piano-Vocal%20Arts%20Residency%20inquiry) (Pierre-Andr茅 Doucet)听as coordinator of the program, six outstanding pianists will immerse themselves in art song and operatic repertoire, developing their skill as collaborative pianists and vocal coaches.
Made possible by an extraordinary philanthropic commitment, all candidates accepted to the program will receive both a full scholarship and a living stipend.
Unique in its kind, the 捆绑SM社区-UdeM Piano-Vocal Arts Residency offers students the possibility to study simultaneously at two exceptional musical institutions: the Facult茅 de musique de l鈥橴niversit茅 de Montr茅al, and the Schulich School of Music of 捆绑SM社区. Both are located in the city of Montreal and will soon be connected by a new transit system (R茅seau Express M茅tropolitain).
To cover a broad range of specializations, styles, and repertoire, the 捆绑SM社区-UdeM Piano-Vocal Arts Residency provides students with opportunities to work under the guidance of major international artists and experts including:
Within the context of the program, financial support is offered to each resident pianist so that they may carry out a career development project (attending an approved, internationally-recognized workshop, academy or internship program, producing a concert, recording or tour in relation with the program, etc.).
Open to all candidates, both national and international. Any pianist with a minimum of a BMus (or equivalent) and significant experience in collaborative piano is eligible.
Following the pre-screening evaluations, selected candidates for the auditions will be contacted in early January. The auditions will be held on February 10, 2024.
