Moe Touizrar: Winner of the John Rea Travel Award in Composition

This year鈥檚聽John Rea Travel Award has been awarded to doctoral candidate聽Moe Touizrar. Established in 2016 by Prof. John Rea, the prize is awarded each year to a student in composition who is travelling during the summer to broaden their cultural experience and depth of knowledge.

Richard Stoelzel: Building a Legacy

Prof. Richard Stoelzel, Professor of Trumpet and Brass Area Chair at the Schulich School of Music, recently released his latest record 鈥 Horizon. This newest release features many works for trumpet and orchestra that Stoelzel commissioned specifically for the release, and sees him joined by the Polish Camerata Chamber Orchestra. In light of this exciting new disc, we spoke to Prof. Stoelzel about the album, performing as a soloist and more in a recent email exchange.

Matthew Ricketts to compose a new opera for the OSM鈥檚 85 season opening

To open the聽Orchestre Symphonique de Montr茅al鈥檚 85th season, composer聽Matthew Ricketts (BMus 鈥09) has聽been commissioned to write a new chamber opera. Titled 鈥淐haakapesh, The Trickster鈥檚 Quest,鈥 this work showcases two singers, narrator, and orchestra, in three scenes.
