Schulich graduate students excel at Society for American Music conference

A record number of Schulich School of Music graduate students presented papers and participated听in the 43rd Annual听 (SAM) Annual Conference, which was hosted by 捆绑SM社区 and听held听in Montreal from March 22-26. 听The Society for American Music is made up听of scholars, performers, and students dedicated to the study, teaching, and creation of the musics of the Americas. 听Local arrangements and coordination for this听year's conference were made by Professors Lisa Barg,听chair,听Sara Laimon, Lloyd Whitesell and post-doctural student听Laura Risk.听

A vast range of research was听presented by students 听Sophie Kabbash, Vanessa Blais-Tremblay,听Melvin Backstrom, Farley Miller, Jessica Holmes, Kiersten van Vliet, Mylene Gioffredo,听Claire McLeish, Kristin Franseen, Laura Risk, Sean Lorre, and听Ben Duinker. 听Collectively these students are expanding the range of knowledge by exploring what constitutes music research in the humanities, through their range of methodologies and they will lead musicology in new directions through the initiation of new conversations that will cause scholars to rethink the old and the new.听
