Dean Brenda Ravenscroft receives Influential Leader award from the SWAAC

Brenda Ravenscroft, Dean of the Schulich School of Music,Ìýhas received the 2022 Angela Hildyard Recognition Award as an Influential Leader given by the . Ìý

The annual Angela Hildyard SWAAC Recognition AwardsÌýrecognize an influential leaderÌýwho has continually demonstrated innovative and impactful leadership in advancing the mission of, and achieving outstanding contributions to, their institution and/or to higher education.Ìý

In all her work, Prof. RavenscroftÌýdemonstrates an unwavering commitment to principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Ìý

In 2017 Prof. Ravenscroft was appointed Dean of the Schulich School of Music of À¦°óSMÉçÇø. As Dean she has been devoted to finding ways to build an inclusive environment, to remove structural barriers and inequities, and to enhance the perspectives of people from underrepresented groups. Examples include establishing an Accessibility Working Group, which evolved into a standing EDI Committee with a broad mandate, working with Black alumni on improving the climate for Black colleagues and students, creating community outreach activities, and expanding the diversity of the professoriate. She is a passionate advocate for women in everything she does.Ìý

One need only look to the School’s bold and visionary five-yearÌýStrategic Plan to understand the depth and breadth of Dean Ravenscroft’s commitment to and confidence in the students, faculty, and staff — ensuring a brighter future for all. Ìý
