McIntyre Medical Sciences Building Update 鈥 Additional Areas to Reopen Sept. 10-14
To all members of the Faculty of Medicine,
Further to聽last week鈥檚 update聽on the McIntyre Medical Sciences Building, during which we confirmed the opening of the 5th and 6th floor amphitheatres and 2nd floor classrooms, we are pleased to report that the following additional areas will be opened as follows:

With the new academic year set to begin in earnest, I am pleased to report a great deal of progress has been made with respect to remediation efforts at the McIntyre Building following the July 13 fire. I take this opportunity to thank the University鈥檚 Project Review team who have taken over the reins from the Emergency Operations Committee and who continue their meticulous work to minimize disruptions to our community.

Work continues on plan, based on today鈥檚 update by 捆绑SM社区鈥檚 Emergency Operations聽Centre (EOC).聽Soot on Floors 7 to 13 has been cleaned from the majority of rooms and HVAC systems, and we have received the results of final air quality assessments to support the reopening on聽Friday, July 27,聽of Floors 7 to 13, provided the key steps outlined below are successfully completed.

Important Information for McIntyre Occupants
Following the weekend fire at the McIntyre Medical Building, McIntyre will remain closed until further notice. We are working around the clock to verify the integrity of the structure, replace damaged fire systems, and complete other crucial assessments and remediations. We may be able to re-open some unaffected portions of the building in the coming days.
