Graduate Progress Tracking
MyProgress
This topic was introduced in 鈥淪tarting Your Program鈥 section.
In addition to the milestones required in the first term of their program, all graduate students in our Faculty must complete a regular progress tracking report yearly. Some Departments may require a semi-yearly report. Please consult your Graduate Program Coordinator (GPC) or Graduate Program Director (GPD) to confirm.
Students are encouraged to take initiative and arrange meetings with their thesis supervisor and committee to ensure they complete their 鈥渕ilestones鈥 in a timely manner.
For doctoral students, the Comprehensive Exam result will also be noted as a milestone. The exam result should be communicated to the GPC.
Please inform yourself: Regulations on Graduate Student Research Progress Tracking
Students and supervisors must use the GPS Progress Tracking Report form to document committee meetings, study plans, and student progress, and may be used to report a comprehensive exam result as well:
Once a report has been completed, signed by supervisor and other members, and approved by the GPD, the student should upload it to the appropriate Milestone in MyProgress, and advise their GPC.
Students should contact their GPC for more information regarding graduate progress reports and other Milestones required for their program.
PhD Comprehensive Exam
Comprehensive Exam Procedure
Please contact your Graduate Program Coordinator or Graduate Program Director to inquire about your academic unit鈥檚 specific procedures and forms for the PhD Comprehensive Exam. Your unit鈥檚 web page may also have more information or forms relating to this.
The Comprehensive Exam result is recorded as a Milestone in MyProgress. The exam result with the accompanying GPD-approved Progress Tracking Report or other Examination Result document must be communicated to the GPC in a timely manner.
Extra /Additional Courses and Substitutions
Course Substitution Approval is required from your Supervisor or Program/Academic Advisor, as well as the Graduate Program Director of your Department. Contact your GPC in the Macdonald Graduate Studies Office as they will make the adjustment in MyProgress. |
