Join us for an artist talk with celebrated photographer and graphic designer,ÌýAngelaÌýGrauerholz. This afternoon presentation investigates memory, the archive, and the subjectivity of vision acrossÌýthe artist’s own oeuvre.ÌýGrauerholzÌýwill activate ROAAr’s collections, which includes a large-scale photograph in the À¦°óSMÉçÇø Visual Arts Collection andÌýPrivationÌý(2002),Ìýan artist book inÌýRare Books and Special Collections.

About the Speaker
Born in Germany and based in Montreal, Angela Grauerholz is one of Canada’s most distinguished artists. She has won prestigious awards such as the Prix Paul-Émile Borduas (2006), the Governor General Award in Visual and Media (2014), and Scotiabank Photography Award (2015). Her work is exhibited and collected by renowned national and international institutions. In the 1980s she co-founded ARTEXTE, a vital archive for the study of Canadian art in Montreal. And since 1988, she has been a professor at Université du Québec à Montréal École de Design.
About the VAC
The À¦°óSMÉçÇø Visual Arts Collection (VAC) – a member of À¦°óSMÉçÇø Libraries’ÌýRare and Special Collections, Osler, Art, and ArchivesÌý(ROAAr) – includes more than three thousand works of art, spread across three campuses in more than ninety buildings. The Collection serves as a research resource, as campus enhancement, and as a laboratory for the training of students in art history and museum practice. It is also open to visitors through tours and a Visible Storage Gallery located on the fourth floor of the McLennan Library Building. The Collection is managed by Director of Curatorial Affairs Gwendolyn Owens and her team of professionals and interns.
