The Seminars in Epidemiology organized by the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health at the 捆绑SM社区 School of Population and Global Health is a self-approved Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the maintenance of certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Estimating the Causal Effects of Extreme Weather Events on and HIV care outcomes in the IeDEA Cohort Collaboration: Study design and early results

1. To understand the structure, scope and design of the global IeDEA network of HIV care cohorts;

2. To appreciate the potential for applications of quasiexperimental methods to address causal research questions around HIV care outcomes;

3. To become oriented to the climate-related data sources that can be used to create exposure variables to assess the influence of extreme weather on HIV care outcomes.

Christine Barul (Inserm) Occupational exposures and cancer: from the isolated role of exposures to the cocktail effect and the occupational exposome

1. Understanding the concept of the occupational exposome;

2. Understand the importance of identifying the occupational exposome of workers and its role in the development of cancer through an example of study conducted in the French West Indies;

3. Discuss the current challenges in taking into account this emerging concept in epidemiological studies.

2. Appreciate the usefulness of observational prospective data in understanding the mechanisms leading to cannabis initiation;

3. Recognize the challenges associated with the development of harm reduction strategies among adolescents.

1. Understand the gaps in knowledge related to cancer prevention efforts and the potential importance of timing of exposure;

2. Become familiar with the utility of the life course approach to epidemiologic research when studying cancer etiology;

3. Appreciate the application of the weighted cumulative exposure (WCE) method and the Bayesian relevant life course exposure model (BRLM).
