Biography: 

Dr. Karen Gazith is a Faculty Lecturer in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology (ECP) and an Adjunct Professor for the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at À¦°óSMÉçÇø, where she has taught for over twenty years. She is also Dean of Academics at Montreal's Azrieli Schools, Talmud Torah (elementary) and Herzliah (high school).

Karen has channeled her education and expertise into the Jewish community, serving as the Interim Executive Director of the Bronfman Jewish Education Center and Director of Education for more than 18 years. Her career began at Hebrew Academy where she worked for 13 years as the Director of their resource program. She has taught at several special needs institutions and schools, including the Instrumental Enrichment Institute with renowned cognitive psychologist Dr. Reuven Feuerstein. Karen has also taught at Hebrew College in Boston and the University of New Brunswick.  Over the years she has presented on topics related to meeting diverse needs in the classroom-- including assessment and instruction, developing key competencies and leadership— in numerous cities across Canada, the United States, England, Israel and Australia.

Dr. Gazith is the author of Teaching with Purpose: How to Thoughtfully Implement Evidence-Based Practices in the Classroom.   Her newest book is The Power of Effective Reading Instruction: How Neuroscience Informs Instruction Across All Grades and Disciplines published by Solution Tree.
