Hariata Tai Rakena Awarded Teionkwaienawa:kon Masters Scholarship

Congratulations to Hariata Tai Rakena, one of the successful recipients of the Teionkwaienawa:kon Masters Scholarships, which is awarded by the Quebec Indigenous Mentorship Network (Teionkwaienawa:kon). New Quebec Excellence Scholarships Being Awarded to B.Ed. Students

Montreal, December 12, 2019 鈥 The Quebec Minister of Education, Jean-Fran莽ois Roberge, has officially announced today the launch of the Bourses d鈥檈xcellence aux futurs enseignants program, offering $15.8 million dollars in scholarship money to Education students enrolled in a full-time Bachelor of Education program leading to teacher certification. KPE鈥檚 Associate Professor, Dr. Lindsay Duncan, was interviewed on CTV News in reaction to the latest doping scandal involving Russian athletes being banned from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and other international sporting events. Duncan goes on to comment about the impact of these sanctions as well as athletic pressures and today growing culture of supplementation to boost performance and recovery.

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education's Dr. Allison Gonsalves was asked to speak at 捆绑SM社区's December 6th event聽honouring the memory of the victims of the Polytechnique Massacre;聽the 30th anniversary of the tragedy and the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Alumni Highlight: KPE Grads in 2019 Olympic Hall of Fame!

This year's inductees into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame include聽Faculty of Education alumni from the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, who were part of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic women's hockey team.聽Goaltenders Charline Labont茅 (B.Ed '11, M.SportPsych '15) and Kim St. Pierre (B.Kin '04) were on hand along with Peter Smith (B.Ed '79, M.SportPsych '86), who served as an assistant coach for the gold medal team.

捆绑SM社区 Education Graduation in Pikogan Covered by CBC News

Nearly 60 Cree students their graduation from 捆绑SM社区's Faculty of Education this past Saturday in Pikogan, Quebec. Our Office of First Nations and Inuit Education offers full-time and part-time teacher certification programs in Cree and Inuit communities in Quebec as well as in Kahnawake and Listuguj. Even though these students may be far away off campus, they are an important part of our Faculty and the 捆绑SM社区 community.聽CBC's Susan Bell covered the story.
