Application for EDKP 499 Honours Research Project

Program Application Procedures

  1. Students interested in the Honours program must speak with a potential Research Supervisor (Faculty Member) during the winter semester of Year 2 to ensure that a supervisor of EDKP 454 is secured before being accepted into the Program and being able to register for this course in the Fall term of U3. A written statement of expectations, including such factors as time commitment in a lab, duties, tasks to be learned, and format of final project, will be signed by both professor and student prior to the start of the student鈥檚 third year. (See Application for Honours Research Practicum EDKP 454). A Sample Timesheet is also provided for research time management for both EDKP 454 and EDKP 499.
  2. Once a Research Supervisor has been secured, students must complete and submit an Intra-Faculty Transfer Form to the Faculty of Education, Internships and Student Affairs Office (ISA) by June 1 of their second year of study. The student is to request this form from the Department Student Advisor. After completing the form, the student is to submit it for approval by the Department Student Advisor prior to submission to the ISA.
  3. The Department Student Advisor will coordinate this process to ensure a Research Supervisor is secured before the student enrolls in the EDKP 454 and the Honours program. Submission of the signed Application for Honours Research Practicum EDKP 454 to the Department Student Advisor will ensure registration permission for EDKP 454 in the U3 Fall term.
  4. A written statement of expectations, including such factors as time commitment in a lab, objectives of the research project and format of the final report will be signed by both professor and student in order to obtain permission to register for EDKP 499 upon completion of EDKP 454 (See Application for Honours Research Project EDKP 499). Registration in EDKP 499 is for the U3 Winter term, and permission to registration via Minerva can only be granted once the grade for EDKP 454 is submitted by the Research Supervisor into Minerva.
