A place to call home trumps portfolio diversification for some investors

Many households are heavily, or even exclusively, invested in real estate. That鈥檚 a lot of聽money to have tied up in a single type of investment, but people don鈥檛 think of houses聽like other investments, according to research from Associate Professor聽Sebastien Betermier. Whether聽they appreciate or not, they can still give you shelter, and some investors consider this聽more valuable than portfolio diversification.
