Dean's EDI Update - August 2024

Excerpt from Dean Yolande E. Chan’s "The Dean's Update " (August 28, 2024) outlining the SM Desautels Faculty of Management’s EDI efforts.

With a strategic focus on EDI, we continue to take steps toward developing a culture that ensures everyone feels safe, welcome, valued and heard. With the help of our EDI team, we have created a new Equity Program launching later this fall which will replace our first responders’ program. Stay tuned for an email from the EDI team outlining the details.

Looking ahead to SM’s Indigenous Awareness Weeks in September, we invite you all to the event, “Indigenous Business Matters: Truth, Reconciliation and Sovereign Wealth,” taking place on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September 30th, from 1:30-3:00pm in Armstrong 365. This event is co-hosted by SM Desautels and the Office of Indigenous Initiatives (OII).

We are pleased to announce that Stephen De Four-Wyre will be the new Anti-Black Racism (ABR) Lead at our Faculty. We will be marking the introduction of this role, as well as the Faculty’s first ABR Action Plan, at an upcoming panel event on October 2nd entitled “Addressing Anti-Black Racism: Strategies for Integration in the Classroom”.
