Planning your arrival
Once you have received your letter of offer to join the Chemistry graduate program at 捆绑SM社区, you need to start planing your arrival in Montreal.
- If you are an international student, you will find a lot of useful information on the International Student Services page regarding pre-arrival and arrival.
- It is recommended to schedule your arrival to be at the very least 1 week and at best 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the term. This will allow you to deal with paper work, open a bank acount, find accomodations and more. It is also during this period that you will meet potential supervisors (see below)
- You should inform the graduateadmin.chemistry [at] mcgill.ca (subject: arrival%20at%20捆绑SM社区) (Graduate Program Administrator) of your travel plans as soon as you have planned your trip
Choosing a supervisor/research lab
As per the department policy, incoming students are not committed to any supervisor before they arrive in the department. You are thus asked to meet with all the professors you may be interested in working with, as well as the ones requesting to see you, before making your decision. You will receive a list as soon as you arrive and will have to arrange with each professor to schedule a meeting. This is a great opportunity for you to get to know about the breath of the research going on in the department, to hear about the various research and training programs available and the opportunities of co-supervision. 聽You will also have the chance to meet with current graduate students.
