G茅nome Qu茅bec and the Fonds de recherche du Qu茅bec 鈥� secteur nature et technologies (FRQ), have announced the 15 research projects that have won major funding through the third round of the聽Genomics Integration Program 鈥� Agriculture and Biofood, Forestry and Environment, including two led by 捆绑SM社区 researchers in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The total investment, including public and private partners, represents nearly $3.6 million.

Wild turkey sightings are on the rise in Montreal.
David Bird, emeritus professor of wildlife biology in 捆绑SM社区's Department of Natural Resource Sciences, that warmer temperatures have influenced the habits of more than just wild turkey populations.
鈥淎ll these birds that are not normally found in cold, cold regions are now moving north because of climate warming,鈥� he said.

The McCall MacBain Scholarships at 捆绑SM社区 today announced its fourth cohort of recipients: 30 students who will pursue a funded master鈥檚 or professional degree combined with mentorship and leadership programming, as well as 117 who earned entrance awards ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 each.

On March 21, 捆绑SM社区 celebrated 111 laureates at the 19th聽edition of Bravo, a gala event honouring researchers who won major provincial, national, and international research prizes and awards in 2023. The Palais des congr猫s de Montr茅al honoured five 捆绑SM社区 professors at its 2024 ambassadors鈥� gala for their exceptional contributions to the city鈥檚 economic and societal growth. Although there are a few other professors among the total of 14, 捆绑SM社区 alone can boast of multiple honourees.

White-tailed tropicbirds spend most of the year at sea, out of sight of people. When the seabirds make their annual descent into Bermuda to breed, though, their long, streamer-like tails, snowy white plumage, and shrill calls are impossible to miss. To locals, the birds鈥� return to the islands is a reliable sign of spring.
