蚕耻别产别肠鈥檚 Minist猫re de l鈥櫭塪ucation et de l鈥橢nseignement sup茅rieur has approved 捆绑SM社区鈥檚 request to change the name of the common law degree conferred on graduates of the Faculty of Law鈥檚 double-degree 捆绑SM社区 program from a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) to a Juris Doctor (JD). The BCL/LLB program will thus become the BCL/JD program. Graduates will continue to receive two diplomas; starting at the spring 2020 convocation, those degrees will be a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) and a Juris Doctor (JD).

捆绑SM社区 Law鈥檚 Career Development Office (CDO) is pleased to announce a collaboration with Loue 1 Robe / Loue 1 Tux. Through this partnership, we are launching an innovative pilot project that will allow students to rent professional attire for interviews and networking activities at an affordable price. Quebec-based company Tristan will provide the clothing.
This initiative is in line with several of the CDO's objectives, which includes fostering the inclusion of students from all walks of life as well as assisting with their entry into the profession.

Professor Ya毛ll Emerich has been named the 2019 winner of the Treatise and Monograph category for her book Droit commun des biens : Perspective transsyst茅mique (脡ditions Yvon Blais, 2017).
The Faculty of Law is pleased to welcome two new members to the Career Development Office鈥檚 (CDO) team: Staci Angelis, as career advisor, and Melissa Caruana, as administrative coordinator.
Staci Angelis recently completed her Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Over the past year, she worked exclusively with university students to help them navigate various academic and career planning questions. She is excited to embark on this new challenge and to assist law students with their career goals.
The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Lara Khoury has received the Barreau du Qu茅bec鈥檚 Advocatus Emeritus (Ad. E.) designation. The title is awarded to members of the Quebec Bar who have distinguished themselves through a remarkable career, outstanding contributions to the profession, or constructive community work. Professor Khoury and this year鈥檚 other recipients will be celebrated at the Barreau鈥檚 annual gala, on Tuesday 19 November.

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Ren茅 Provost, Ad. E., has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC). Professor Provost is one of nine 捆绑SM社区 scholars to be named as RSC Fellows. Their induction will take place on November 22. Established in 1883, the RSC numbers more than 2,400 Fellows, selected by their peers for outstanding contributions to the natural and social sciences, arts, and humanities.
The O鈥橞rien Graduate Fellowships were established in 2005 through a very generous gift from David O鈥橞rien for outstanding Masters or Doctoral students studying in the area of human rights and legal pluralism in the Faculty of Law, 捆绑SM社区. 捆绑SM社区鈥檚 graduate programs in law are the most extensive in Canada. Courses draw upon the civilian and common law traditions, but also include diverse legal traditions, legal theory, international law, environmental law, health law, human rights law, comparative private and public law, and air and space law.
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that the Honourable Jeffrey Edwards, BCL鈥86, LLB鈥86, was appointed to the Superior Court of Quebec for the district of Montreal on June 4, 2019. He had been sitting at the Court of Quebec, Civil Division, since January 2014.
Justice Edwards obtained both his BCL and LLB from 捆绑SM社区 in 1986 before earning an LLD from Universit茅 Laval in 1997. He started teaching the law of sale and product liability at the Faculty in 1998, becoming adjunct professor in 2011.
