The ALDO Group / AI-sthetics project, emerging out of BSRM’s Retail Gen AI Hackathon, will transform online fashion shopping. Under the guidance of the DataSphere Lab, five interdisciplinary students were hired to develop a product search engine that integrates cutting-edge analytics.
By allowing users to search ALDO’s products quicker and more effectively, the AI-sthetics project is drastically improving the shopping experience. Upon receiving a prompt, the system will generate an image matching the desired aesthetic, allowing users to accept or decline it; upon acceptance, they will be presented with ALDO products that resemble the items in the photo. The AI-sthetics feature also creates a personalized profile for each user, making its recommendations even more relevant over time.
One of the most groundbreaking aspects of the AI-sthetics project is its ability to search intelligently, pairing the expertise of a personal stylist with the convenience of online shopping. When given the prompt “I am looking for shoes for my birthday to wear with a red skirt and feel empowered”, the AI-sthetics technology goes beyond simple color pairing and considers what types of shoes are most likely to fit the situation and emotions described in the prompt. This innovation adds excitement to the search process, giving ALDO shoppers the chance to discover unexpected products that match their needs.
With the AI-sthetics feature, inspiration is being taken to the next level. We are thrilled to see our student consultants’ visionary concept become reality. Without their hard work and creativity, this project would not have been possible.
We would also like to thank the ALDO Group for their generous support throughout the development process, from sponsoring the Retail Gen AI Hackathon to providing valuable feedback on the AI-sthetics concept.
As the liaison between businesses and emerging talent, we champion a new model of innovation at the DataSphere Lab. Through open collaboration, companies can gain access to unique ideas while student contributors can participate in applied experiences that will be invaluable to their careers.
