About Us
Through the support from the 捆绑SM社区 Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection & Immunity (MI4), the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the and philanthropic donors, the 捆绑SM社区 AMR Center was created in 2021 and has been growing since. It now brings together a diverse scientific community with expertise across the biomedical, engineering, animal, natural and social sciences, with >50 faculty members representing over 20 departments from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Science, Engineering, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
Our vision is to harness the expertise and creativity of our researchers to address AMR challenges and priorities through interdisciplinary research and education.
We aim to promote an interdisciplinary approach to AMR research and foster collaborations. Our annual AMR research symposium showcases research that spans fundamental, applied, clinical and epidemiological sciences. Our Seminar & Social events, co-hosted with various groups at 捆绑SM社区 (e.g. Centre en Biologie Structurale, 捆绑SM社区 Microbiome Center), bring external speakers on diverse AMR topics, from drug discovery to wastewater surveillance.
We aim to support exciting research ideas and leverage partnerships. We have launched co-funding programs to help 捆绑SM社区 research teams secure external funding, develop new collaborations, or translate their discoveries into innovations.
We aim to enhance training and raise awareness on AMR. We support trainees through studentships and fellowships, trainee-led educational projects. We raise awareness and engage with the public through our trainee-led AMR outreach team.
We aim to contribute leadership in the global fight against AMR. We are proud to have hosted the EDAR7 (7th Environmental Dimensions of AMR) international conference on May 26-31, 2024 in Montreal.
