Chriscinda Henry’s research focuses on the role of the arts in social life and intellectual culture in Renaissance Europe. Her bookPlayful Pictures: Art, Leisure, and Entertainment in the Venetian Renaissance Home(Penn State University Press, 2022), draws connections between the visual arts, literature, music, and theater in late fifteenth and sixteenth-century domestic life. She also recently co-edited the volumeMusic and Visual Culture in Renaissance Italywith musicologist Tim Shephard (Routledge, 2023). Current projects include articles on the Renaissance studiolo as an ecology of self-care and on the origins and early history of the dedicated Venetian music study.
