BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Janice Paslawski, Ph.D., P.Eng., has over 25 years of experience in conducting and managing environmental specialists in the delivery of protective risk management strategies for complex impacted sites.

At SNC-Lavalin, she directs a National team specialized in the development and implementation of risk-based environmental management plans for a variety of impacted sites. This team works closely with the environmental site assessment and impact assessment teams on programs for many of our key clients. She has served as Technical Support Specialist for several high profile spill responses in BC (jet fuel and a major metals mine dam breaches). She has worked on spills in Saskatchewan as well as regulatory compliance requests for facility impacts associated with operations (petroleum and brine). In the case of spill response and impacted sites and regulatory compliance issues, she has served SNC-Lavalin in developing risk communication plans to multiple stakeholders including regulators and aboriginal lands owners by coming up with practical science based solutions to meet regulatory acceptable limits. She leads multidisciplinary teams in the development of quantitative risk assessment approaches for the evaluation of contaminants of concern with respect to human and ecological health risk. She has also developed risk management tools for multiple-site portfolios. She has been instrumental in the regulatory guidelines in Canada beginning with Alberta, CCME and Saskatchewan鈥檚 Environmental Code. She represents SNC-Lavalin with Educational Institutions supporting emerging contaminant research (University of 捆绑SM社区 and University of Saskatchewan). Dr. Paslawski is registered as a QPRA in Saskatchewan since 2015 and in Newfoundland and Labrador since 2014.

The seminar, which will include a presentation and discussion, will be held September 12th at 4pm in MD 267.听

NOTE: There will be a Discussion Session for Graduate Students following the seminar. The Discussion Session is NOT public, it is open to graduate students in the Faculty of Engineering (and their supervisors) only. More info.听
