Overview

Nursing : Introduction to the nursing profession and to a nurse’s scope of practice. Exploration of the nursing history of healthcare in Canada, the history of nursing and of the strengths-based nursing and healthcare (SBNH) approach. Exploration of nursing concepts with a focus on how the approach can be applied to professional practice.This course introduces theoretical perspectives of family-centered strengths-based nursing of the family in health and illness. Characteristics of family functioning and health behaviours, influences on health behaviours and family resilience factors are examined. Students will be introduced to family assessment tools and nursing research.
