Program Requirements
This program is open to students with a B.Sc. in nutrition or an allied health profession, including biochemistry, kinesiology, physiology, or other related field, who would like to become a member of the Ordre professional des diététistes du Québec. Students may be required to complete a qualifying year (a variable number of required undergraduate credits), before taking the required M.Sc.Applied professional course, complementary courses, and elective courses (46 credits), followed by a Stage (Internship) component, which includes a practice based project (37 credits). On completion, students will meet OPDQ credits and professional practice requirements for licensure as a registered dietitian. A basic level or professional French competency will be required to complete the professional practice Stage component. The entrance requirements of a CGPA of 3.5 must be maintained throughout the program.

Overview
Nutrition and Dietetics : Interaction of exercise physiology with nutrient and energy metabolism in healthy adults. Principles of physical training and role of physical activity and exercise in weight management and food intake regulation. Importance of physical activity in childhood, during pregnancy, in healthy adults and in improving functional capacity in the elderly.

NUTR 505 Public Health Nutrition (3 credits)
Overview
Nutrition and Dietetics : This course focuses on the nutrition status of populations, communities and groups of people using a public health lens. It identifies and assesses human nutrition issues and problems, their causes, influencing factors and social conditions using a social determinants of health framework. Offers opportunities to design and conduct needs assessments, design and plan programs and plan for their evaluation. The purpose and role of participatory approaches with diverse populations and Indigenous populations in particular will be analyzed. Health systems, public health and political influence in Canada, as related to nutrition will be addressed.

Practice

Overview
Nutrition and Dietetics : Techniques and strategies to enhance interpersonal skills for the health care environment, specifically helping skills. Hands-on practice in the dietitian's role as nutrition communicator, interviewer, counsellor, educator, motivator and behavioural change facilitator. Discussion of principles and practices essential to participating in entry-level dietetics.

Overview
Nutrition and Dietetics : A case-based Stage preparation course, including activities at the À¦°óSMÉçÇø Simulation Centre to assess basic proficiency in nutritional assessment; nutrition care planning, implementation, and evaluation; professional practice skills; and medical records management. Overview
Nutrition and Dietetics : Identification and practice of effective writing techniques for the different types of writing likely to be required in dietetics practice, when taking a leadership role, promoting the profession, sharing knowledge and experience, and inspiring others. Writing for different segments of the general population, to writing for a professional audience. Peer critique and revision of text and design, in an effort to reach excellence, are important aspects of the course.

Overview
Nutrition and Dietetics : A team project (3 or 4 students). Interventions and outcomes, or development and evaluation of tools and resources for dietetics practice, in a clinical or community nutrition setting, with individuals or groups as the target population. The project findings will be disseminated through a final report and a presentation to health professionals.

Nutrition and Dietetics : Food security is a major concern on the international development agenda: hundreds of millions, and perhaps even billions of individuals still face food insecurity and hunger, even years after the Millennium Summit. This course is designed to provide graduate students with multidisciplinary tools in research and education required by practitioners and researchers to better assess, understand, and positively impact global food security.
