Current research:

TheÌýmainÌýobjectiveÌýof my research program is to better understand the mechanisms ofÌýbrain plasticityÌýthat underlieÌýmemoryÌýformation and learningÌýprocesses.ÌýTheÌýultimateÌýgoalÌýisÌýtoÌýdevelopÌýeffectiveÌýinterventionsÌýaimed at enhancing cognitive health andÌýfunctional independence.ÌýMyÌýstudies areÌýdesigned to gain insight intoÌýthese mechanismsÌýinÌýbothÌýhealth and disease, targeting not onlyÌýyoung,Ìýolder,ÌýandÌýnon-disabled individuals, but also people with neurological or neurodegenerative conditions such stroke and Parkinson's disease. The main areas of my research program include exercise, aging, brain plasticity, neurorehabilitation, and sleep. The programÌýis unique becauseÌýit provides mechanistic informationÌýtoÌýdesignÌýnovelÌýpatient-oriented treatmentsÌýthat weÌýtestÌýdirectly inÌýclinical trials.ÌýThis translational approach has the potential to improve theÌýquality of life inÌýpeople living with cognitive and/or mobilityÌýlimitationsÌý
