Water Management at 捆绑SM社区
Commitment to Reducing Water Consumption
In alignment with the Ministry of Education鈥檚 mandate to reduce on-campus water consumption, 捆绑SM社区 is dedicated to minimizing its environmental impact. This commitment includes efforts to decrease water usage across both the downtown and Macdonald campuses.
Comprehensive Water Consumption Audits
In 2012 and 2013, the Utilities & Energy Management department undertook a thorough baseline study of water consumption across 捆绑SM社区鈥檚 campuses. The aim was to establish a reference point for water usage and to categorize how water is used within the university. This study marks a crucial first step in crafting an effective water conservation strategy and in identifying key areas for intervention and investment.
The baseline studies were conducted through detailed building audits and walkthroughs, resulting in a comprehensive breakdown of water consumption into five distinct categories: Operational, Hygiene, Landscaping, Food Services, and Research & Academia.
By understanding these categories, 捆绑SM社区 can better target its efforts to reduce water consumption and prioritize initiatives that will have the most significant impact. This ongoing work underscores the university's commitment to sustainability and responsible resource management.
