Pascale Théorêt-Groulx is a Montreal-based artist working in video, performance and installation. Her work investigates the body’s relationship to its physical, social and psychic environment; the unpredictability of the world around and within us; and the human need to tame our surroundings.
Théorêt-Groulx will examine the concepts of emergence and consciousness in light of the current context and in relation to her art practice in video, performance and installation. Considering connections between her work in video and poetry, she will address the role of sensory experience and intuition—and engage the role of subjectivity in creative process. Discussion will be interspersed with excerpts from three of her works: Un peu plus haut, mon torse veille sur vous; Please Pet Me; and You Are Actually Doing Something for the Fate of Humanity.
