Carolyn Baglole
MSc, PhD
Dr. Carolyn Baglole received her BSc and MSc from the University of Prince Edward Island and PhD in Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Calgary. She then went on to post-doctoral training at the University of Rochester in the Department of Environmental Medicine before joining 捆绑SM社区 as an Assistant Professor in 2010. Dr. Baglole is also Director of the 捆绑SM社区 Research Centre for Cannabis and has published聽more than 90 peer-reviewed papers in journals such as FASEB, AJP-Lung, Frontiers in Immunology, and Journal of Cellular Physiology. Dr. Baglole is funded through CIHR and NSERC and is currently a Fonds de recherche du Qu茅bec Senior Research Scholar. She also sits on a number of journal editorial boards and government advisory panels.
Dr. Baglole's research focuses on how environmental exposures drive the pathogenesis of chronic lung diseases, including COPD. Her translational research program utilizes preclinical models of exposure to tobacco smoke as well as new and emerging threats to lung health including inhalation of various types of cannabis products and the use of e-cigarettes. Her main research focus is to understand, at the cellular and molecular levels, how these environmental exposures contribute to pathogenic mechanisms such as chronic inflammation that drive the development of disease.
