捆绑SM社区-led genomics centres win $9.8 M, three-year funding support from Genome Canada

The 捆绑SM社区 and G茅nome Qu茅bec Innovation Centre and the Canadian Centre for Computational Genomics will receive a total of $9.8听million in funding over three听years through Genome Canada awards announced Feb. 21.

The operational and technology-development grants will enable the centres to continue supporting the research community with high-level tools, technologies and services. The 捆绑SM社区 and G茅nome Qu茅bec Innovation Centre (MUGQIC), led by 捆绑SM社区 Prof. Mark Lathrop, supports the larger scientific community with genomics technologies for studies on chronic diseases, rare diseases, aging, cancer and genomic responses to environment, as well as agricultural applications. MUGQIC supports over900 academic and industry research teams from Canada and abroad each year.

The Canadian Centre for Computational Genomics (C3G), led by 捆绑SM社区 Prof. Guillaume Bourque in Montreal and Dr. Michael Brudno at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, provides informatics and analysis support to the life sciences community. Since inception, the C3G team has completed 1,014 projects for 622 groups of researchers across Canada and internationally,

Genome Canada, a not-for-profit organization funded by the Government of Canada, acts as a catalyst for developing and applying genomics and genomic-based technologies to create economic and social benefits for Canadians.听
