Heather Munroe-Blum OC, OQ, PhD, FRSC

Dr Munroe-Blum isÌýChairperson of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB),Ìýand,ÌýEmeritaÌýPrincipal and Vice-Chancellor, À¦°óSMÉçÇø (where she served as Principal for over a decade and was the first woman in this role). She is a Director, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and Chair of RBC's Corporate Governance Committee;ÌýDirector,ÌýCGI Group;Ìýand,ÌýDirector and Vice-Chair of theÌýGairdner Foundation. A Member of theÌýBoard of Stanford University’sÌýCenterÌýfor Advanced Study in theÌýBehavioralÌýSciences (CASBS), and, a Member, the Trilateral Commission.Ìý

Dr.ÌýMunroe-Blum is a distinguished academic leader and administratorÌýand an outstanding scholar in the fields of psychiatric epidemiology and public policy. ÌýJust prior to servingÌýas Principal and Vice-Chancellor of À¦°óSMÉçÇø, she served at the University of TorontoÌýas Vice-President (Research and International Relations). She is a graduate of McMaster University, Wilfrid Laurier University, and, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received a Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology (with distinction).Ìý

Dr Munroe-Blum serves andÌýhas served on numerous corporate, hospital and community boards; is extensivelyÌýpublished in epidemiology and public policy, and has been principal investigator on major research programs funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health (USA) and Canadian research agencies. She has served onÌýdomestic and international governmental and related science, health, and innovation advisory councils, and, has chaired peer-adjudication research and scientific award granting panels. An Officer of the Order of Canada, and, of Ìýl'Ordre Nationale du Québec, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Dr Munroe-Blum is the recipient of numerous Canadian and international awards and honorary degrees in recognition of her leadership in research, science and innovation, higher education, health and governance.
