Increased scholarships for Canadian applicants beginning in 2025

In continuing our commitment to providing a high-quality and intensive Master of Public Policy program and in recognition of an ever-increasing cost of living, the Max Bell School will be increasing our entrance scholarships to $15,000 each for eligible Canadian applicants (citizens and permanent residents) beginning in fall 2025. These scholarships are based on merit, and all applicants will be considered automatically unless otherwise specified. The funding will be awarded to accepted students during their year attending the MPP program.

Heather DeSantis, IRCC speaks to MPPs

On Monday, April 15, Heather DeSantis, Director General of International Affairs at Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada spoke to the students at the Max Bell School of Public Policy. The students appreciated her career advice on getting into the public service, especially her journey from studying Canadian studies to a career in security and foreign policy. She also provided insights on the federal government’s interactions with provincial and international governments, such as the negotiations that occurred to expand the new Safe Third Country Agreement.

Youth Assembly Report on Digital Rights and Safety

This Youth Assembly on Digital Rights allowed them to connect with each other as well as academic experts and policymakers on how to promote the safety, well-being, and flourishing of Canadian youth online.

September 1, 2023 | UN Special Rapporteur Mr. Tomoya Obokata visited Max Bell School of Public Policy to examine issues of contemporary forms of slavery in Canada, including its causes and consequences. During the meeting organized by McConnell Visiting Scholar Olivia Smith, the Special Rapporteur met with federal, provincial, and municipal authorities, national human rights bodies, and victims of contemporary forms of slavery.

July 26, 2023 | Daniel Weinstock among seven other members of the ��SM�� community were honored by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, on 30 June and has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada (OOC). Weinstock was recognized "for his exemplary contributions to the advancement of political philosophy, public policy and social justice in Canada, as a renowned ethicist, philosopher and public intellectual," the OOC citation reads.

Among the 2022 cohort are fifteen ��SM�� researchers and scholars, including eleven RSC Fellows and four new Members, who will be inducted at the RSC Celebration of Excellence and Engagement on November 25, 2022, in Calgary, Alberta.
