He cited the strong economic and social ties between the two countries, and no doubt had in mind the pivotal position India holds in Canada鈥檚 Indo-Pacific Strategy: as a bulwark against an ascendant China and an interlocutor with the Global South," write Vincent Rigby and Aftab Ahmed聽in The Globe and Mail.
The authors underscores the importance of strengthening relations by practicing quite diplomacy, including in the fields of cybersecurity and the digital economy. There emerges a space for restarting trade negotiations, and "the U.S. could play a role in helping both countries find an uneasy compromise and permit the relationship to move forward."
