Three building closures extended
Dear members of the Macdonald Campus community,
Testing remains underway at the Barton and Macdonald-Stewart Buildings, and still has not yielded any concerning findings. This careful testing is taking longer than originally anticipated; therefore, the earliest date on which these buildings may re-open is now Thursday, February 9.
Once this testing has concluded, we will focus our efforts on the Raymond Building.
As noted in previous messages:
- Classes: Classes scheduled in these buildings during the closure period will be held online where feasible or relocated if possible. Classes that can be neither held online nor relocated will unfortunately be cancelled.
- Research activities: Only research personnel who must care for animals or maintain live cell cultures or plants may enter the buildings. Arrangements must first be made by emailing emergency.mgmt [at] mcgill.ca to obtain appropriate PPE.
- Staff: Academic, administrative and support staff working in the Raymond, Barton or Macdonald-Stewart buildings must work from home for the duration of the closure, unless their supervisor requests their presence and can arrange an alternative in-person location. Staff who cannot perform their duties remotely will be paid for days they cannot work.
In addition, please note that:
- Macdonald Campus Library : Library e-resources are available 24/7, seven days a week. For general research assistance or Library-related questions, the Virtual Reference Service is available Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 pm. Liaison librarians are also available to assist with subject-specific research.
We will continue to keep you apprised via email and the Macdonald Campus website as more information becomes available. Thank you once again for your patience and understanding.
Pierre Barbarie,
Senior Director, Campus Public Safety, on behalf of the Emergency Operations Centre
