Professor Ryan Mailloux appointed Director of the School of Human Nutrition
Professor Ryan Mailloux has been appointed Director of the School of Human Nutrition (SHN) effective from June 1, 2023, for a five-year term.
Dr. Mailloux earned his Ph.D. in Biomolecular Sciences from Laurentian University in 2007. He joined À¦°óSMÉçÇø in 2019, previously serving as an Assistant Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Dr. Mailloux’s research aims to decode how mitochondria can tailor the metabolic pathways that make ATP, ROS, and antioxidants in response to environmental and physiological cues.
The faculty wishes to thank former Director Professor Linda Wykes for her service. Under Dr. Wykes’ leadership, the School of Human Nutrition saw the opening of new research facilities including the Clinical Nutrition Research Unit, Molecular Metabolic Flux Core and Tissue Culture Laboratories, recruitment of a new generation of dynamic and innovative faculty members, and finally new undergraduate programs including the Honours in Nutrition to give outstanding SHN students a path to graduate research opportunities in Nutrition.
