Join our panel of experts for a discussion about the use of Single-Cell Genomic (SCG) to inform brain and mental health research. Hosted by听Dr. Lesley Fellows, Vice-Principal (Health Affairs) and Dean of the 捆绑SM社区 Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the session will include talks by听Dr. Patricia Pelufo Silveira听补苍诲听Prof. Corina Nagy.听
The human brain has long been an enigma in the realm of science and medicine. Novel imaging and mapping technology continue to uncover the mysteries of neurological function, and the development of pathologies. And now, scientists are embarking on a new venture, as the Ludmer Centre for Neuroinformatics and Mental Health prepares to specialize in SCG research.
Established in 2013, the Ludmer Centre is a collaborative partnership between three 捆绑SM社区 research Hospitals: the Douglas, The Neuro, and the Lady Davis Institute. With the existing infrastructure and expertise in each of the partner institutions, the SCG Brain Initiative can map the genome of each brain cell, analyse the generated data, and integrate it into platforms that allow for the sharing of this data world-wide.听
Our distinguished speakers:听
Dr. Patricia Pelufo Silveira, MD, is the scientific director of the Genomics and Epigenetics Pillar of the Ludmer Centre, and an Associate Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at 捆绑SM社区. A pediatrician and neuroscientist, Dr. Silveira's research focuses on how perinatal and early-childhood environments modulates both health and disease risk across the lifespan.听 听 听 听 听听
Prof. Corina Nagy, PhD, is a Principle Investigator at the Ludmer Centre and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at 捆绑SM社区. Her lab explores the brain at the single cell resolution, examining the contribution of each brain cell to the pathological state with a focus on major depression.听
