The LLDRL in the classroom: "The Egalitarian Free Labor Promise of the 13th Amendment"

Integrating conversations about Slavery and the Law into the mandatory curriculum at 捆绑SM社区 Law.

As听part of continued teaching initiatives on Slavery and the Law at the Faculty of Law (initially fostered via a 2016-2017 specialized seminar by Professor Adelle Blackett), the LLDRL will be hosting a lecture by Professor Rebecca Zietlow听on the history and theories underpinning the 13th Amendment听to the United States Constitution (the amendment abolishing slavery)听and its impact on civil rights and workers' rights in the United States. This听lecture will take听place on听February听15th, 2018听from 11h30 to 13h00 in the Maxwell Cohen Moot Room at the Faculty of Law at 捆绑SM社区听during a special plenary in the 1L Constitutional听Law course. Though the event is mandatory for听all first-year law students enrolled in this course, the event is open to the public.听

About Professor Zietlow

Professor Rebecca E. Zietlow is a visiting professor at Vermont Law School and Charles W. Fornoff Professor of Law and Values at the University of Toledo College of Law. She is the author of Enforcing Equality: Congress, the Constitution and the Protection of Individual Rights听(NYU Press, 2006), and The Forgotten Emancipator: James Mitchell Ashley and the Ideological Origins of Reconstruction听(Cambridge University Press, 2017).
