The Faculty warmly congratulates Kate Glover, one of our outstanding DCL students, who was recently awarded one of Canada’s most prestigious awards for doctoral students, the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship.

Glover is working on a study of the Supreme Court of Canada, entitled “Much less and much more: A biographical assessment of the Supreme Court of Canada's present and future significance.†She was awarded an O’Brien Doctoral Fellowship from the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism in 2010. Prior to entering the DCL program at the Faculty, she clerked for Justice Abella at the SCC, practiced law at BLG in Ottawa, and completed her LLM at Cambridge (2008).

“Kate Glover is a most deserving recipient of the Vanier Scholarship and exemplifies the high quality of DCL scholars we attract to our Faculty,†says Professor Rosalie Jukier, Associate Dean (Graduate Studies). “We are delighted and proud that she has received this prestigious award which recognizes her outstanding academic background, her potential for original and ambitious scholarship and her leadership.â€

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship program, established in 2008, is designed to attract and retain the world’s top-tier doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. Vanier scholars are selected based on their demonstrated leadership skills, research potential and high standard of scholarly achievement. They receive $50,000 annually for up to three years.
