Biography: 

Malek Abisaab is an associate professor of history at the department of history and the听Institute of Islamic Studies听at 捆绑SM社区.听He teaches courses dealing with the social and political transformation of the Middle East and women in Islamic societies, exploring new conceptual tools and comparative frameworks for discussing gender, labor nationalism and the nation-state in the Middle East. He co-authored with Rula Jurdi Abisaab,听The Shi`ites of Lebanon: Modernism, Communism, and Hizbullah鈥檚 Islamists听(Syracuse: Syracuse University Press, 2014), and authored听鈥淲armed or Burnt by Fire?
