Montreal Council on Foreign Relations (MCFR) Fellowship / Prix du CORIM-Foreign Relations

The MCFR envisions adding to its public offer, a Prize in the form of a Fellowship听in order to reinforce its educational mission and lengthen its social reach.

Value and Duration

Eligibility

The candidate must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Be enrolled in a full-time doctoral program at 捆绑SM社区

Once awarded, the candidate must:

  • Remain enrolled at the university for the duration of the course
  • Share his research results with the MCFR听and report the costs related to the project.

Selection Procedures and Quota

  • Each academic unit may submit one (1) candidate to Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies听(GPS).
  • Following an internal pre-selection screening, 捆绑SM社区 may听submit one (1) application to the Board of MCFR as the final candidate.
  • The Board will appoint听a committee for this purpose, which will be responsible for making a recommendation to听the rest of the Board members.
  • The Board will meet individually with each of the four finalists, as well as review the complete files previously submitted to the MCFR by the partner universities.

Evaluation Criteria

Research potential of the applicant as demonstrated by the experience of research interest in discovery and innovation,

and the quality of the research and its contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field of international relations.

Academic excellence听as demonstrated by transcripts, as well as scholarships, honours and awards received.听

Academic and professional experience:听shown by publications and activities related to international relations in areas

such as academics, volunteer work and civic, political, social, cultural and professional action.

Communication skills听expressed by scholar curriculum and work experience, commitment to the community and other

relevant extra-curricular activities, as well as letters of recommendation and quality of the application.

Timeline

15 November

Unit scans and submits complete application package in pdf format to GPS via email attachment to gradcomp.gps [at] mcgill.ca (subject: CORIM)

20听November

Selected application package will听be submitted to the MCFR by听捆绑SM社区.

December

The final decision on the winner of the first prize will be taken by the Board of Directors of the MCFR.

Required Documents, Tools & Resources

To qualify, candidates for the scholarship must submit a complete application package containing the following documents:

  • The application form duly completed, dated, and signed;
  • Academic Curriculum vitae;
  • A description of the research project with bibliography, including: the research question or problem, objectives, working hypothesis, methodology, and contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field of international relations (maximum 3 pages);
  • All official University level transcripts (current Fall session registration status must be indicated)
  • Letters of recommendation:
  1. One letter from the research director covering the nature and the significance of the research project;
  2. One letter from a supervisor in the foreign institution where the candidate intends to do his research. The resources of the host institution offered to the candidate's research activities should be indicated;
  3. Two letters from referees who must base their recommendation on the academic and professional excellence, research potential and skills of the candidate.
