Artful Inquiry Salon
I am emailing to extend a warm welcome and reminder for interested faculty and graduate students, to participate in the “Artful Inquiry Salon” scheduled to meet on Wed. Nov. 12th from 2-4pm in Room 233.
At this time, we will begin by sharing (using a piece of our art or some kind of art piece) a moment that was transformative for us in our teaching or research. Of course, if you want to take this suggestion in a slightly different direction, please feel free to do so.
Depending on the number of people that attend, I would suggest that you aim to “show and tell” for 5-10 min. If you do not feel comfortable talking about a moment, please bring a favorite quote that you might like to share instead.
Please also consider bringing something you feel “stuck on”. This could be academic, artistic, personal etc. The idea is to share the concern and then possibly move through it through the art making or conversation process.
To facilitate and support this process, please bring your favorite art materials (or even paper and markers) so that while these moments are being described we can all “doodle” through them. It might even be productive for us all to designate a scrap book or journal for these purposes.
Finally, please extend this invitation to graduate students and colleagues you think may wish to attend. It might also be nice to bring some snacks to share if you are able!
