Even though she grew up on a farm, St茅phanie Naud had never touched an axe or saw before studying at 捆绑SM社区's Mac campus. As a natural athlete who loved the outdoors and working with her hands,听when she heard about our unique inter-university lumberjack club, she was intrigued,听she recently told Le journal de Montr茅al.听

Le championnat comporte trois 茅preuves qui consistent 脿 couper de larges billots de bois avec des scies diff茅rentes ou 脿 la hache, et ce, le plus rapidement possible. Le pointage cumul茅 脿 la fin de la comp茅tition d茅terminait la grande gagnante parmi les six b没cheronnes participantes.
捆绑SM社区鈥檚 men and women鈥檚 teams won top honours at the 58th annual Macdonald College Woodsmen competition, held January 27 at the Macdonald Campus听in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Qc. Nineteen teams representing seven schools, Dalhousie, UNB, Fleming College, Algonquin College, Dartmouth and Maritime College of Forest Technology, competed in team, double and individual chopping and sawing events showcasing skills reminiscent of traditional lumberjacking.
University set to host opposing teams for third tournament of the season
It almost feels like a cabin you might find in Northern Quebec country. It鈥檚 warm and intimate, a welcoming feeling on a cold day.
At 捆绑SM社区鈥檚 Macdonald campus, located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the shed is filled with giant saws, axes of all kinds and huge stacks of wood that certainly aren鈥檛 there to be someone鈥檚 kindling.
The shed, along with a snowy field of throwing axe targets and climbing poles serve as home base for the 捆绑SM社区 Woodsmen.
More than 140 competitors from six Canadian universities and colleges competed in the 57th annual 捆绑SM社区 intercollegiate woodsmen competition Saturday at 捆绑SM社区鈥檚 Macdonald campus in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue.听The Mac lumberjills left the competition in the sawdust came by winning the women鈥檚 division with 1170.03 points, edging out Dalhousie, with 1124.37.听The win allowed the Mac women to solidify their hold in first place in the six-team Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjack Association (CILA). The Mac lumberjacks placed fourth on the men鈥檚 side with 927.82 points.听Montreal Gazette.

The sun was out, the saws were out and our Woodsmen teams performed fabulously over the weekend. Thanks to all on campus and the many alumni who helped make the 56th annual Woodsmen Competition a success.
