NEW RULES FOR REGISTERING FOR OIIQ LICENSING EXAM

Published: 22 July 2009

Please note that a new version of the Regulation respecting the terms and conditions for the issue of permits by the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) came into effect on June 11 and applies to the September 2009 examination session.

Dates for the practical section of the examination are September 19 or 20, 2009 and September 21, 2009 for the written section.

The deadline for registering for the professional examination is now 45 days before the set date of the examination instead of the previous 30 days. All required fees and documents must be received at the Order’s head office by August 5, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. Applications for registration received after the deadline will be refused. Eligible persons who do not register by the deadline will have to sit for the next examination session in the winter of 2010.

A person who is not present at the examination, without valid reason, is considered to have failed. Candidates must ensure that they attend each session for which they have received a notice. If an examination is missed because of a health problem, childbirth, the death of a parent, child or spouse, or other unavoidable circumstance, the Order will require valid proof (medical certificate, birth certificate or death certificate). All claims to ‘unavoidable circumstances’ (i.e., any serious event that is impossible to foresee or prevent) will be reviewed by the Executive Committee.
