The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) announced 71 new Fellows today, including eight À¦°óSMÉçÇø researchers and scholars from the faculties of Science, Engineering, Law and Arts. Among them is Professor François Crépeau, who holds the Hans and Tamar Oppenheimer Chair in International Law at the Faculty of Law.

Professor François Crepeau is a leading scholar in Canada in the field of international migration law and a world-recognized authority in matters of public international law and human rights law. A Fellow of the Trudeau Foundation, he was the holder of a Canada Research Chair in International Migration Law at the Université de Montréal for four years before taking up his present Chair at À¦°óSMÉçÇø. His recent appointment as United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants further attests to his influence as a scholar who has contributed internationally to the emergence of migration and refugee law as a field of enquiry.

The Faculty of Law offers its heartiest congratulations to Professor Crépeau on his appointment as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
